EOS-1D Mark IV Firmware Update Version 1.0.8
Canon has just released a new update (1.0.8) for the flaship 1D MarkIV.
As usual Canon does not give much information on what these firmwares will correct but hopefully it will correct the problems that the 1.0.6 has caused on some user where hunting focus was more prominent and less accurate.
If you do not know what I mean on this matter, check out the Fred Miranda forum about this.
Pay attention that Canon also states that: Note that cameras with the Version 1.0.8 firmware cannot be downgraded to a previous firmware version (such as Version 1.0.6).
So far I've updated and the only thing I noticed right away was the switch on function where camera get's ready to shoot almost instantaneously. Will test the Focus and will try to downgrade to 1.0.4 after some testing and will post it here later on as an add on to this post.
Firmware changes...
Firmware Version 1.0.8 incorporates the following fixes.
1. Fixes a phenomenon in which the set aperture moves unexpectedly when shooting movies in manual exposure mode using some Canon lenses (such as macro lenses).
2. Corrects misspellings in the French and Spanish menus for applicable products.
The Version 1.0.8 firmware is for cameras with firmware up to Version 1.0.6. If the camera's firmware is already Version 1.0.8, it is not necessary to update the firmware.
Note that cameras with the Version 1.0.8 firmware cannot be downgraded to a previous firmware version (such as Version 1.0.6).
Download it from Canon here.
