Microsoft releases Pro Photo Shoot Outlook plugin and RAW codecs

Microsoft Pro Photo Shoot is a new software add-in for Microsoft Office Outlook that allows photographers to add details of the client and equipment for a photo shoot appointment in Outlook. This allows photographers to greater leverage the power of Outlook when managing their photography.

Microsoft Pro Photo Shoot supports Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 and 2007 running on Windows XP and Windows Vista.

You can get them here and hope it would come in hand.

If you use Windows and are having trouble getting the codecs for you camera take a look in here.

Microsoft has been working with the major camera manufacturers so that they can provide codecs for their various RAW formats to their customers. Once these codecs are installed, users will find that they can view their RAW files and thumbnails throughout Windows XP and Windows Vista.

Available are the codecs from the developers Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus, Pentax and ArdFry.

Good morning, Rui!

Thanks for a good hint with perfect links again! ! !

I installed the Add In (Outlook 2007 with Exchange Server) and everything works well.

Some things to mention: You can't import your equipment list (I have mine in an Excel Sheet for insurance), it is strange to add several items of the same name (e.g. Flashes or PWIIs).

That sounds like a cool add-in, if i used Outlook. About the plug-ins, unfortunately, Nikon has not released (or, really is looking to plan to release) a version of their codec for any x64 Windows Operating System. I am using Windows Vista x64 Home Premium. It is really frustrating!
Oh well, I just use Adobe Lightroom. :)

Interesting. Slightly off topic, but seeing as you know about Outlook, I wonder if you happen to know if there is a Windows XP plugin/codec that will let me see RAW files via the standard simple and easy Windows image/fax viewer?

I'd also like Windows to give me thumbnail previews of RAW files, like it does for jpegs. Is this dooable?

Cheers,

Alex

PS Very useful list on where to find Strobist gear around Europe. Would you like to know where people can find stuff in Italy?
